Mais Oui Cherie…

Today is my first day back in school, starting off with French… It’s been a long infatuation of mine, rolling that somewhat condescending pronunciation on my tongue, and I feel ridiculously silly being so excited for the first class but I simply can’t help it…

I hate to be so trivial, but learning another language always seemed to me like passing by a glass door into a whole new intricate collection of experiences (and the benefit of ease dropping to stranger’s conversation while they have no clue you understand of course…) Every language has those little crumbs of life that are merely impossible to translate, we try, and explain with long, cumbersome sentences but in my mind truly graceful existence can fully manifest only by owning several keys, to those alluring glass doors…

I though today is just the right opportunity to share the photo above with you, it was taken in Paris on a 1949 film, by a relatively new collaborator (last featured here) on CHIC A LA’ RUSSE, Michael R Dunham. How flawlessly dreamy?

{Eternal Love}

I think by now we were able to establish my eternal love to all things furry and black and this look is no exception… I don’t remember when was the last time I enjoyed a piece of clothing as much as I do with this vest (Did I mention my Mom is the best??? Her pick…) since it literally goes with every thing in my wardrobe, I find myself layering it on top of everyday run-arounds or evening glittery frocks as one and the best part is not only it always looks lush but it also keeps me warm!

Gifted fur vest, H&M velvet dress, Castro & Vintage jewelry, Sample belt I found in an exchange boutique, Leather bag I borrowed from my mom, Sunnies courtesy of China-Town and Boots by Patrizia Pepe.

*Twinkle Tips*

Ever since Miuccia marched down a small army of beauties down her runways with blindingly sparkling shoes, the entire web has been continuously overflowing with shiny DIYs from all glitter sorts, and I’ve been sitting quietly pondering in observation…

I suppose you can say I’m a bit of a “trend-snob” at times, and I take my time with deciding whether I really like it or not… So I’m not running to spend my monthly allowance on a pair of MIUs but I am quite infatuated with all things sparkly on my fingertips, it’s like a small girly twinkle party at 10 different places a once!

Speaking of party… Going out with my roomie tonight! She is a real stunner in case you were wondering (should be fun!!!)

Stop by tomorrow for the rest of the look, shot by Eldad of course…

How Splendid {NYC}

My sincere apologies for completely abandoning all things CHIC for what seems to be a breaking record of 5 days! This whole trans-Atlantic flight charade threw me off a tiny bit and considering school is threatening to start in a couple of days I took unpacking rather seriously…

Ha… How splendid it is to be back in New York… Every time I leave, regardless to how much I enjoyed the trip there’s nothing quite like coming back, picking up a soy-latte at a local cafe and, paying way too much for a sweet yellow pepper (don’t ask me why from all things THAT ended up on the list…), exploring vintage and blissfully window shopping in the freezing cold… I suppose I can write a whole lot more of experiencing NYC in the winter but for now I’ll spare you my scribbles and say that there’s absolutely nothing more I wish to add to my wardrobe (for the moment of course!) except a lush, soft, fur hat… There’s something really enchanting in a women’s face peeking out of a fur bundle…No?

OH, and by the way, I hate to report but yet again I was a victim to malicious virus on my brand new computer (!!! How unfortunate is that?!?!), so for now, until Dell corporation will figure out a way to get it back on , I’m banned to the mercy of dreadful and dusty public “machines”… So pardon if I disappear again…

{Army-Gear}

I always feel too tall when I’m in Israel. One would imagine that there is no such thing, (especially when you’re only 5’9) but considering I brought nothing but heals (NY habit…) sometimes I don’t feel like drawing too much attention, and find myself reaching for something more casual…

Sunnies by KISS, Gap Army blouse, UnderArmor black-thermic shirt (*a little trick I picked up Up-State NY, it’s the perfect slim-fit solution to keep warm, when you’re not in the mood for bulky sweaters…), H&M Skirt and Belt. Booties by Franco Sarto.

{Check!}

What a day?! “Effortlessly” beaming elegance in a slinky dress (blown away by cruel Israeli winds in an open field) – check, sinking into muddy grounds in 5 inch heels (and being saved by the handsome assistant) – check, trying 3 different products to remove the most dramatic smokey eye I’ve seen in a while – check, traditional Russian guest reception (with every possible dish/desert on the table) – check, and finally completely exhausted (yet smiling silly) crushing for a sweet sleep… Untill tomorrow, for my last Israeli collaboration before I return to New York. I literally cannot wait to share with you all these marvelous memories!

Oh,and in case you’re wondering -completely off topic- the darling on top is actually a he, no other than Andrej Pejic for VOGUE Paris, how lovely can you be??? {found here}

{Texture Play}

Although I am sticking (at this point almost religiously) to an all black attire, a play of texture is a great way to keep things more interesting, every surface reflects light in a slightly different way and rewrites the whole scenario… Needless to say, I’m a huge fan of experimenting with textures in monochrome ensembles…

Puffy Vest by American Apparel, Cashmere Sweater from Club Monaco, Vintage Velvet Skirt, Sunnies by KISS, Gloves from Moscow (A gift from my dad…), Necklace I found in a thrift store and both shoes and patent leather belt are from unknown companies…

A Huge thank you to Alona and Eldad for this wonderful collaboration, I had the best time working with you again!

{Capture and Cherish}

After closing all the final details of our collaboration I’m thrilled to introduce our new shining {Photo} star : Julie Teitler. Only 20 and already has a portfolio packed with Editorials and an impressive collection of images that manage to capture that extra something most of us tend to miss… Julie confessed to be “ Living to capture and cherish the most beautiful moments life can give us” . Julie was one of the lucky few that got to learn from the master , Ron Kedmi (probably the most prestigious workshop one can wish for in Israel).

Needless to say, I am uber- excited for our upcoming collaboration… Welcome aboard dear… (Image by Julie Teitler)

Perfectly Naughty

I don’t know why but over the years my mom and I formed this tradition of searching together for the perfect lacy treasures, but every visit with no fail we go through the same boutiques at the same order and review the goods… Personally, I find the lingerie quest quite tricky these days since there are so many new materials put to use and the consequences are both appealing and discouraging and it takes a good eye to choose the ones that manage to carry on the soft allure of proper, silky lingerie…

LOVE the bow-bra, how genius is that??? Magdalena for Numero… Found here
