New Year {Style} Resolutions !!!

NYR4Okay so we all know that along with a new year come all kinds of resolutions, promises we make to our selves (or perhaps to others as well…), assessments of all sorts and certain changes we simply can’t proceed without applying to our day to day lives… After having a second look at my 2012 post, I realized just how much black I wore this year. Which is completely fine since I do love it quite a bit, but sometimes I crave just a little bit of color but on the other side, I don’t want to “give up” the black completely, it always feels CHIC and makes me feel confident day or night. So first style resolution- More COLOR please! I like how both Joanna Hillman and Taylor Tomasi Hill (two of my favorite gals from the New York fashion scene) incorporated dark colors with some color, not too   much, but just enough to make things interesting…

NYR1NYR2Another soft spot I’d like to revisit in 2013 is Black and White. Timeless and oozing of style this combination has always been a top choice in my book.NYR3Resolution #3 would have to be Hats. I couldn’t help but notice I slowly aquired a small collection of caps and fedoras, but the trouble is I rarely wear the beauties, well, there’s no better time then the present!NYR6#4 Embrace yourself. One thing I can live without is self-judgment, especially when it comes to fashion, and I think that this year I’ve finally come to terms with my own sense of style. Of course it will evolve and change till the day I die, but the general gist of things is that I’m a true classic… I’ll never design or wear clown-like look at me type of fashion, it’s just not who I am and that is okay. So, whatever it is you are, be it, just do it well. And most chances are I’ll never stop loving black or monochrome outfits, however I will always strive to improve the two, I think Anya Ziourova and Arizona Muse (below) done pretty well to say the least…NYR5#5 Dare a little. So although I’m not a fan of people who get dressed to have their picture taken (at all cost) I do think that pushing ourselves a little is essential, walk on unknown territories, even if only for a short run! I’ve always admired Vika Gazinskaya and her elaborate yet sophisticated sense of style, it’s never an over-kill but always chic!NYR7All images courtesy of Harper’s Bazaar.com (excluding the above right – stockholm streetstyle)

Pom-Pom {Obsession!}

MG_8791

It all began with Candice. Since I laid my eyes on this particular image a while back I knew I must have the perfect Pom-Pom hat for fall, or to be more precise a chic version of it for the cold New York winter… As I started my search, I shortly found out that finding the right fit with the right Pom-Pom is everything but breezy. And if you’ve been on the go these past couple of days, finishing up your Christmas gift hurrah like me, you probably noticed that a good hat is not only a matter of a fashion statement but a true necessity. And I hate to be so judgmental but let’s face it, most “ladies” don’t go the extra mile when it comes to hats and in cold days you’ll see more then enough heads covered up with sloppy “beanies” (in Israel we call them “sock-hats” because it really does looks like you put a sock on your head!) that are mmm, how should I put it, not quite flattering for most. There are a few exceptions to the rule of course. If you are head to toe fabulous, a beanie can pass, The Glamourai is probably the best example for the case (I’ve never seen a girl looking so chic- in a beanie!), OR if you are the epitome of perfection and there is absolutely no way to meddle with your 6 feet tall confusing presence… However, if you belong to the majority of us humans and look beyond silly with a beanie (like me!) it’s time to be creative. I personally think that a Pom-Pom is the most adorable solution ever. Whether you decide to make a statement and go big or stay within the subtle boundaries of humor is up to you, but either way have fun with it ;)

PomPoms

I love the ones that have a little bill at the front, to give it more structure, like the one above from FRASSY, but if you’re more into the colorful scheme of things asos.com have a pretty neat selection. I recently found the cutest Diesel knitted cap, however lacking the Pom-Pom! If that’s the case, you can always add the pom-pom yourself! I found a great selection of fur pom-poms in both M&J Trimming, and at Joyce in the garment district in the city. Can’t wait to test mine!!!

Spark My Imagination

streetfsn by Nam

Just in case you haven’t quite notices yet, I’m a huge fan of (quality) streetstyle photography and I’m always excited to discover someone who will make me stop and stare, someone who will take a picture not only perfectly composed or at the right light exposure but one that will also spark my imagination. The ones that make you curious (or in my case, completely fascinated) by the subjects of their “craft” are the real talents in what seems to be an ever-expanding niche in the photography world today. I think it’s not as easy as some might think. I mean, sure the committed among them travel the world and have the most beautiful and stylish people at the tip of their lenses, but they also have just seconds to snap the perfect shot with sometimes very little control of what’s around them…  So here are a few of my favorites from Paris Fashion week, captured by STREETFSN (by Nam).

Swaying Through

I wonder how it feels like, swaying through life in the figure of a goddess…?

I found these in my daily “browsing-ride” on the web. Scrolling through more and more images I suddenly stopped. Like men do when they forget themselves on the street. This time it was me, staring at the image of this confusing creature, it must have been at least a minute passing by till I “recovered”.

I wonder how it is, to be that -almost inappropriately- beautiful.

Gotta Love Tommy

I don’t remember when I initially bumped into Jak & Jil’s Blog, but I know that ever since I’m a devoted follower, and it seems I am by far not the only one…

I found these in the latest BAZZAR:

Wouldn’t that be splendid if the streets would look like that? Every single day….
